jkleinAfter successfully completing the U.S., German, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese legs of their “REBOOT To the New Moon” tour, LUNA SEA chose the only place suitable for a great finale to their tour — Tokyo Dome.
Originally announced to be a two night show, the band stunned their fans a couple months before the live by announcing a third night, which was to be a free show requiring only registration online and an entirely black outfit to honor their old tradition from the band’s early days. Needless to say, the large amount of eager fans trying to register for the live crashed the website’s server, proving that the legendary band still has it.
On December 24 — Christmas Eve and the second night of their tour final — fans who choose to spend this special day with the other 50,000 passionate fans burst into screams as the show started, yet immediately quieted down as Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata played in the dimmed arena and a beautiful, dream-like beam of light shone on RYUICHI. A graceful and peaceful feel washed over the audience, only to be followed by over two hours of the exciting, intense, powerful and beautiful music that is particularly LUNA SEA.
In between every few songs, RYUICHI delivered several touching MC moments, thanking the fans for waiting so many years for the return of the number one band of their hearts. The five members of the band, RYUICHI, SUGIZO, J, INORAN and SHINYA, have came a long way from being young, hot-headed rockstars to mature, grateful and talented artists who, with much experience up their sleeves, are proving that they are here to stay and will be taking on whatever storms that come their way.
With a setlist of 24 songs, including a new song for each night of the show, LUNA SEA showed amazing energy throughout the live, and the overly excited audience was not to be beat, cheering while singing along to all those beloved songs that they grew up with. It is only a matter of time before LUNA SEA makes the next move to present a brand new phase of the moon, and brand new music of LUNA SEA.
