AMERICA Welcomes SUPERGROUP ZAMZA!

New York, NY – October 9, 2010 – New York’s music scene is all a-buzz with the upcoming live performances this month by super group ZAMZA! This influential powerhouse band from Japan has glamoured musical audiences all over the globe with their inventive musical style. A combination of classic and alternative rock, ZAMZA’s sound has been described as a legendary rock recipe – a delicious sound mix influenced by the epic majesty of Ozzy Osbourne, the energy of AC/DC, with a touch of the melodic riffs of Led Zeppelin. Filled with memorable guitar hooks, a tremendous vocal range, and high octane lyrics, ZAMZA’s performances are ones that are remembered by audiences for a lifetime.

ZAMZA’s moniker was inspired by the main character (Gregor Samsa) of the epic novel “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka. They formed in 2007 when groups Echoes and Judy & Mary split ways. These two successful bands then reformed themselves as Zamza N’Banshee, and the band opted to shorten their name to ZAMZA. Their first album, Manga, was released in May 2009 and in the same year made their U.S. debut with their follow-up album, Manga Rock, in November 2009. This back-toback release successfully gained the band global recognition and required ZAMZA to embark on a series of world tour performances. On May 19, 2010 ZAMZA’s new album, Tsukizoku was released in Japan, launching another series of world performances. Bassist Banshee Aliouxce (Yoshihito Onda) and Drummer KOHTA (Kohta Igarashi) originally hail from the monster band, JUDY AND MARY, which enjoyed worldwide success and acclaim, generating over $1 billion in sales. Guitarist HIROKI (Hiroki Ito) and Vocalist ZINC (Jinsei Tsuji) are from a band called ECHOES which also enjoyed much success after their 1989 track “Zoo”. They have been invited to participate in the famous CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival. This musical phenomenon is one of the world’s most important platforms for the discovery of new music and cutting-edge media. As cutting edge rockers from Japan, ZAMZA’s reputation added them to the likes of artists of CMJ’s past, such as The Killers, U2, Muse, Lady Gaga, and thousands more.
