JAPANESE GUITAR LEGEND TOMOYASU HOTEI TO PERFORM IN LONDON AT A SPECIAL ONE-OFF SHOW AT THE ROUNDHOUSE IN DECEMBER 2012

On December 18, 2012, Tomoyasu Hotei, Japan’s ground-breaking, multi-million album selling guitar virtuoso will perform a special one-off show at the London Roundhouse. This is the first time in over a decade that Hotei, who is best known for his internationally recognizable theme tune to ‘Kill Bill’ (Battle Without Honour or Humanity), has performed in the UK.

Known for his dynamic and totally unique style of playing, Hotei’s career spans 30 years, during which time he has released or performed on over 30 albums. He has collaborated and performed alongside some with some of the world’s leading artists and bands including: David Bowie, Bon Jovi, Bob Dylan, Roxy Music, INXS, Jesus Jones, Hugh Cornwall, PM Dawn, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell and Ry Cooder.

In addition, he has written numerous film tracks and scores including ‘Kill Bill’ for Quentin Tarantino and ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ for Terry Gilliam and arranged the theme to Tom Cruise’s recent box office hit ‘Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol’. He was also chosen by Michael Kamen to perform at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in Atlanta in 1996 and later to record Kamen’s Eric Clapton commissioned ‘Guitar Concerto’. Most recently he has played alongside Roxy Music, recorded with Grammy Award winning jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour and appeared in front of 100,000 people at the Tokyo Dome to raise funds for those affected by the recent Japanese earthquake and Tsunami.

Hotei’s highly original show will be a spectacular showcase of some of his best-known international songs and greatest Japanese hits along with some extraordinary reworked cover versions of classics, which in the past have included Telegram Sam, All the Young Dudes and Born to Be Wild. The Roundhouse looks set to have a distinctly cross-cultural feel on the night with fans already planning to fly in from Japan to mix with London’s famously diverse music lovers.
