[Profile]
Born in Sendai, Japan. At an early age, he took interest in music and started playing an antique guitar in his family home. In high school, he was the guitarist of a rock band and began singing while in college.
In January of 2010, he made a spectacular major debut with the single “Fly away”, which received such heavy airplay across Japan that it topped Billboard’s Japan Hot 100 chart for two weeks.
After Rake’s hometown of Sendai was devastated by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, he bounced back from the tragedy and released his first hit single, “100mankai no I Love You”. The single debuted at #25 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and recorded over 1.5 million digital downloads.
In September 2013, his single “Free Bird” was selected from a pool of several entries to become the new theme song for the nationally broadcast TV News program, FCI Morning EYE.
Rake is currently on a national tour in Japan and is an upcoming singer songwriter to look out for.
