the UnderneathWhen JRR sent the Underneath some questions to respond to in their blog here, the band sent us back replies to all! So here's a special interview from the Underneath just for their tour blog!

Q: How does it feel to perform at such large venues in a foreign country?

A: We feel very honored to be able to join such a big tour in a foreign country the first time we perform overseas [as the Underneath]. It is a daily challenge for us to try to make audiences who have no knowledge of us excited. It's exciting for us, and it's also stimulating for us to watch the other bands’ sets when we're not performing.

Q: It appears that you have been conducting your MCs in English.

A: Basically, we try to do all of the MCs in English. This is because we feel that it’s important to not only get our message across with music, but to also get the message across with words. It makes us happy when we get a great response from the audience.

Q: What do you eat on tour?

A: On the days that we are performing, there are catering services that provide brunch and dinner, and that’s what we eat. The meal is set in a buffet style—there’s usually salad, fruit, coffee, and other drinks available. Everything tastes good, so meal times are always something to look forward to. On the days that we’re off, we go eat at restaurants close by.

Q: Have you been able to become friends with the other bands?

A: We’ve definitely become closer with the other Japanese bands, and we’ve also chatted with the American bands often. We’ve been invited by Jay of Bullet For My Valentine to play on his bus. The tour still has a long way to go, so we’d like to keep good communication with the other bands. All of the staff is very friendly, and we so we enjoy every day. Touring together makes the artists and staff feel like family.

Q: What do you do when you’re riding the bus?

A: At night, we drink and have fun. The bus is our home for the duration of the tour, so we do everything on it. Besides that, the bus is equipped with internet connection, so we get to update our blogs.

Q: Are there any songs that make you feel, "Hey, we really got the message across," after performing them on stage?

A: We feel that we’ve been able to get all of the songs across, but we are especially happy when the audiences give us great responses to medium-tempo songs with a Japanese-style melody; we feel that we are able to present the uniqueness of the Japanese style.

Q: Has there been anything that made you think "I will never forget this"? When was it?

A: Meeting everyone and talking with everyone has left a great impression on us. We honestly feel that every day is filled with exciting and moving moments and that we wouldn’t want to forget anything.

Q: Please give a message to those who cannot attend the tour.

A: Although the only thing we can do [for you] is to update our blogs, we’d like to be able to describe as many things as possible that are happening on the tour. If we have the chance to, we’d like to do lives in America as many times as possible. Next time, it would be great if you could come to our show. In order to accomplish that, we will give the tour all we’ve got till the very end, and we would like to become successful.

Q: Please give a message to those who went to the show and became big fans of yours.

A: We really think it’s a great thing that you met our band with the number of all of the bands in the world and that you have developed an interest in our music. We think it's a miracle, and fateful, too. At the same time, we sincerely feel gratitude towards ROCKSTAR Taste of Chaos for giving us this chance to perform in front of so many audiences. We will continue to make exciting music, so please continue to support us.
